Old Fort Driver Involved in Fatal Hit and Run Accident

A North Carolina driver has been charged in a fatal hit and run accident in Old Fort, North Carolina. Jose Ambrocio of Old Fort had a blood-alcohol content of 0.11 at the time of the accident, said police, which made him legally intoxicated in the state of North Carolina. The legal limit in North Carolina is 0.08.


While driving down the road with a beer between his legs, Ambrocio ran off the road and directly struck Lorenzo Sanchez-Hernandez, dragging him for some 50 feet to his death. Police indicated that Ambrocio was speeding when he ran off the road and killed Sanchez-Hernandez.

According to reports, police were charging Ambrocio with felony death by vehicle, felony hit-and-run, driving while intoxicated, and careless and reckless driving. Ambrocio was in jail on $66,000 bond.
