The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has recently released a statement which announced a voluntary recall of Starbucks children's plastic cups. Reportedly, the cups easily fracture, which leaves sharp edges and broken pieces that can pose a choking or laceration hazard for children.
There have been seven reports received by Starbucks of cups breaking and two of those reports have included instances of children beginning to choke on the broken pieces. No injuries have been reported as a result of the defective products, but Starbucks has asked that the products be taken away from the children and complimentary beverages have been offered as an incentive for the return of the faulty products.

This incident has just been one of a large number of CPSC recalls as a result of Chinese-manufactured products that were defective or contaminated. The Chinese Product Safety Agencies announced an agreement on September 11 to improve the quality and safety of imported consumer goods. However, since that announcement, many more products have been recalled. Products manufactured in China, which include Cub Scout badges, light fixtures, glitter candles, air purifiers, aluminum water bottles, key chains, and baby cribs have been recalled by the CPSC in the past few weeks.
